Meet the Speakers
Dr Brett Williams is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, specialising in the law of the World Trade Organisation and the regulation of international trade. Dr Williams commenced the Williams Trade Law Firm in Sydney and taught the law of the WTO at the University of Sydney and other Institutions around Australia.
As a renowned expert in the field of trade regulation, Dr Williams has provided expert reports on various issues, including for the Asian Development Bank in assisting Timor Leste to prepare for their accession to the ASEAN Economic Community. In 2012, Dr Williams prepared a report highlighting Samoa's private sector opportunities and challenges following its accession to the WTO. He has also conducted training programs for government officials in the People's Republic of China and Iraq.
Dr Williams is the inaugural co-Chair of the International Economic Law Interest Group of the Australian and New Zealand Society for International Law. With a wealth of expertise and experience in this area, we are thrilled to welcome Dr Williams to share his insights with the International Law Section.
